I adore the stimulation of frequently changing environments, but my first love is people. Shooting allows me to connect with people and to go behind the surface layer – their complexities, quirky humour, tensions, subconscious eccentricity and the infinite minutiae of expressions and emotions. All of my projects, both stills and film, flow from this passion for capturing the nuances of everyday life. Self-taught, I prefer to work with natural light and to keep my work about my subjects, without over-imposing with direction. I’ve been a photographer for 14 years and more recently became a filmmaker. My portfolio includes music promos, documentaries and I’m particularly fond of working on long-term ideas. I choose those that are compelling either for their quirkiness or because they highlight positive human stories – often for a social or humanitarian cause. With an instinct for experimentation, I like to keep a keen level of imagination and humour in everything I do.
