I am an anthropological photographer. I was originally a newspaper photojournalist for small papers in New Jersey, and continued working with papers and photographers from my teens through my 30's, even shooting for the publications office at the University of Redlands while getting a degree in Archaeology there. Later I became a contract archaeologist (CRM for military and civilian agencies for those who know such things), also working as a photographer and photojournalist. Eventually I also taught Anthropology and Archaeology at Universities, while shooting for papers and magazines and working with media businesses like Magnum Photos in New York, where I assisted with marketing and archive work between teaching gigs. I've been doing a long term research project on South East Asia, and have been shooting for stories and stock while researching. I am most interested in how globalization is changing traditonal societies by integrating them into the world economy and, in turn, how this is creating a world culture, while leaving many people behind.
