http://www.lightstalkers.org/dananderson Born and mostly raised in Memphis, TN, I moved to Mobile to attend Spring Hill College and work towards my B.A. in Communication Arts with a Concentration in Journalism.&nbsp; Although I had played with cameras in high school, I didn't seriously approach photography until after my freshman year in college.&nbsp; Thanks to a kind com arts department, I was given keys to the building and was able to practice in the darkroom a year before I entered a photo class.&nbsp;&nbsp; Halfway through my junior year, I decided to pursue photojournalism as a career instead of writing.&nbsp; One of the many reasons for this is that I tend to be a very unmotivated person, and photography was one of the few things in my life I had diligently pursued to become better at with little to no outside motivation.&nbsp;&nbsp; Although I had hoped for a staff job at a newspaper while I was in school, rejections from publications forced me to make a decision between freelance photography or delivering pizzas.&nbsp; After two and a half years, I haven't looked back.&nbsp; At my age, I'm able to pay my bills, have worked on a variety of assignments for anybody from the local daily to an international wire service, and am producing a body of work I can be proud of.&nbsp; I've done different types of photo work to help pay the bills, but no matter how many different business ideas I get into my head photojournalism is the one thing I keep getting drawn back into and is the main reason I chose photography as a career.<br/> en-us Image feeds are temporarily unavailable due to heavy load on the Lightstalkers servers.
