<description>or over 20 years I have worked as an independent documentary photographer doing assignments and personal projects on social and environmental issues with a particular focus on where the two intersect. My work has appeared in large market outlets like The New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, Outside, Discover, Science, Time, Business Week, The Nature Conservancy, Slow Food, Audubon, and the United Nations as well as boutique outlets like Gastronomica, Culture, Orion, Day Light, and Bike.

From 2004-2012 I served as picture editor for Orion magazine and in 2011, with creative partner Hal Clifford, I founded the media company, Take One Creative, to produce documentary films and narrative content in all mediums for mission- and passion-driven clients. I have exhibited widely and lectured often on my work at venues including Harvard, Yale, Duke, The New Mexico Museum of Art, Williams College, San Francisco Art Institute, Nevada Museum of Art, and Mountainfilm. I am a board member with the Blue Earth Alliance and regularly participate as a juror, curator, and reviewer for photo events around the world.
