Based in Sydney, Australia, Michael balances his work between commissions for magazines and art directors with self funded documentary projects. He specializes in people and their stories, reportage and contempory portrait. Editorial clients more recently have included TIME, The New Scientist, Australian Country Style, Business Week, The Saturday Telegraph Magazine, TIMES Magazine, The Bulletin and Readers Digest. Annual Reports and Communications Photography Clients include: Greenpeace, Save the Children Fund, Korda Mentha and Bilfinger Berger. In 2004 and 2005 Michael made a series of portraits advertising The Australian Newspaper. The Fred Hollows Foundation who work on issues of preventable blindness around the world use his photography from his "Seeing is Believing" project on a regular basis in their advertising. Book: In 1992-1993, Michael traveled to Vietnam, Eritrea and Nepal as the principal photographer for the book and exhibition "Seeing is Believing" on the work of Humanitarian Ophthalmologist Professor Fred Hollows. Michael continues to work on preventable blindness stories. Over the past few years he has made stories in Tibet, Nepal, India, and recently in Bhutan and North Korea.
