Currently freelancing, and teaching documentary photography at the Academy in Ghent.
I realised documentaries on refugees in Belgium, Kurdistan, the Balkans, the porters of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Iraq before and after the war. From 2006 to 2007 I have been travelling over land to the far east, via Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China and Russia. In june 2009 my first book &quot;Red Journey&quot; on the former Soviet Union was published by Lannoo. &quot;Red Journey&quot;, awarded the Nikon Press Photo Award 2008, has been exhibited at the Museum of Photography in Antwerp, Belgium in 2009. Nick is working on a new book at this time, about the Mediterranean.
