[Lightstalkers] EOS 1D MKIII http://www.lightstalkers.org/eos_1d_mkiii An entire Lightstalkers thread via RSS/XML. en-us EOS 1D MKIII I've been using the MKIII for the last couple of days and i gotta say it is rather impressive. New controls take a little getting used to, but the quality at higher ISO's is a vast improvement. 3200 is impressive, in line with 1600 on the MKII's. 6400 is also usable if your stuck. The colours are better too. The one thing that really bugs me, which Canon still neglects to address is their viewfinders for manual focussing. No use having a camera with the ability to shoot at 3200, 6400's if you can't focus the bloody thing.. Glad you like yours, can't wait until my two ship!! Don't hold your breath on RAW converter compatibility with CS2. Adobe is notorious about NOT supporting backwards, ergo forcing us into the newest, always. I wonder if not introducing backwards compatible plug-ins is a strategy to get more support behind DNG... I mean, what's the point in converting your CR2/NEF files to another format, anyway? Also, has anyone had a chance to have a close look at the RAW files out of the Mark III? Any really amazing improvements over the 12 bit cameras? I'm taking a Mark III up to the Blue Mountains tomorrow, where it's apparently going to snow, so we'll do a couple of side-by-side comparisons and see if we can tell the difference.
