I was advised to fly to Bangkok then take a bus from there to save travel cost. Does anyone know how much the fare is, the bus trip from Bangkok to Siem Reap? And I suppose I don't need visa to enter Thailand and Cambodia if I'm Indonesian? Here's her reply: Look up the bus trip. It's supposed to be 2 days of hell with "potholes the sides of monster trucks," according to the people i know that took it. We took a flight from bangkok and it was worth it. So many horror stories going around about that bus trip i wouldn't do it. As far as the flight it changes daily but its worth it seim reap was one of my favorite places! I crossed by land from Bangkok-took a bus, (1 day)...cheap, do not remember how much, stayed on the Thailand side and crossed in the morning- I did need a visa prior (I am American) at that time, I think 2004-you could not get a visa when crossing by land...you can get a visa at the airports for $20.00 USD. But I went to Sihanoukville first, than bus to PP, than a ferry to Siem Reap...which was really great fun...If you have the time, you could have a really great trip. Wonderful country, wonderful people...wish I could go this year. I flew back, which was painless. Have a good time. I know there are direct flight from Bangkok into Siem Reap. I was just informed that for me (Indonesian), visa isn't required if I hold a return ticket back from Thailand. I don't know if Cambodia has the same regulation for visa like Singapore and Malaysia' foreign policy where they give free visa for ASEAN nationalities. But I still don't have the fare information for the buses from Bangkok to Siem Reap or Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Anyone?
