BBC News website rates

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew what the BBC News website rates are for photos and photo journals as they call them. I have had a look at the NUJ Freelance suggested minimum rates but I imagine these are much higher than the BBC actually pays. If anyone has recent experience it would be great to hear from you,

Thanks

As a rule the Beeb tend to either pay laughable sums or try to get pics for nothing. On top of that the BBC website contains rights grabbing terms. By submitting 'content' to them you automatically give them a Royalty Free license to re-use the stuff.

Unless you can get (written) confirmation from a human being at the BBC, along with an agreed fee and license, it's hardly worth the bother.

I have to agree with Sion, I have refused them rights on two occasions this year because of the laughable sums they were offering!

I have also had to involve the NUJ when they haven't paid and other contractual issues.

Not worth the effort IMHO

Cheers
