[Lightstalkers] colour management question http://www.lightstalkers.org/colour-management-question An entire Lightstalkers thread via RSS/XML. en-us colour management question If I open the same (Adobe RGB 1998) image in both Photoshop and Canon's DPP - on my calibrated screen - I get images that look the same. This is a good thing. However, if I open the image in Preview or Graphic Converter I have an image that is far too saturated and more contrasty. In PhotoMechanic the colour isn't that good either. I'm using a Mac with 10.5.2 and I'm having difficulty working this one out... Any ideas? Oh, and I'm also getting thumbnails that look different from the opened image... Thanks in anticipation... Check your photoshop settings when you do a save as, and make sure the option to embed profiles is checked. I think it was simply a profile embedding problem... That said, I still haven't found the "allow color management" checkbox in Bridge... Instead, the thumbnail quality determines whether color profile settings are used. High-quality thumbnails use color-profile settings, while quick thumbnails do not. Use Thumbnails preferences to determine thumbnail quality. If you have Adobe Creative Suite 3, you can use Adobe Bridge to synchronize color settings across all color-managed components. When you specify Creative Suite color settings using the Edit > Creative Suite Color Settings command in Adobe Bridge, color settings are automatically synchronized, ensuring that colors look the same in all color-managed Adobe Creative Suite 3 components. For instructions on using Adobe Bridge to set up color management, search for “synchronize color settings” in your component’s Help. I embed the profile (Adobe 1998) and i can see all ok but when I upload to the web, in my case Digital Railroad, I see some scans more red than in my mac. No problem with the photos that were taken with a digital camera but yes with some scans. Odd. Sorry David for distract a little the main question you post.
