But then I'm heading straight to Dubai and on to Kabul. So I'll have to have my flak jacket with me as I go through the States. Has anybody had problems arriving at US customs from the ME with a flak jacket? Specifically, exporting Level III and IV armor plates requires a U.S. State Department export permit, and export of the soft armor to a few countries (I don't know which) may require a Bureau of Industry & Security export license. Saying all that, this is more a concern for shipping such items, and I am sure many press people have successfully taken them out of the US in luggage.
