flak jacket through US customs

Hi
I'm heading from my base in Beirut to the States to do an interview in Missouri.
But then I'm heading straight to Dubai and on to Kabul.
So I'll have to have my flak jacket with me as I go through the States.
Has anybody had problems arriving at US customs from the ME with a flak jacket?
Cheers

No problems here. Besides, they are not illegal to own in the U.S., Dubai is another story.

They may be legal to own in the U.S., exept if you have a felony conviction in some states, but I think you'll find their export is subject to restrictions.
Specifically, exporting Level III and IV armor plates requires a U.S. State Department export permit, and export of the soft armor to a few countries (I don't know which) may require a Bureau of Industry & Security export license.
Saying all that, this is more a concern for shipping such items, and I am sure many press people have successfully taken them out of the US in luggage.
