NEW FEATURES

I'd like all lightstalkers to have a look at my two latest features.

The first one was shot on the border between Thailand and Burma, and it deals with the Karen refugees. Karen are an ethnic minority, one of the most ancient of Burma, and they have been fighting for their survival since 1946, when Burma broke free from British rule, through their armed group, the KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army). Nowadays their situation is getting worse after international aid has been redirected to the areas affected by Nargis.

The second one is about the Urak Lawoi "Sea Gypsies", a group of natives of the Andaman coast of Thailand. They're name comes from their long fishing trips keeping men away from home for weeks, and actually means "Brothers from the Sea". Thanks to their knowledge of the sea they survived the 2004 Tsunami but now they have to face the wave of mass-tourism taking away their sacred land.

All kinds of feedback are highly appreciated ...

Re: NEW FEATURES

Interesting work. Strong visual composition adding strength to subject.

In your blog it is also of interest to see that you came to the conclusion that a 4MB pdf was the best way to propose your work. Same here. We are some to come to the same conclusion as Jon Anderson in his post

Re: NEW FEATURES

Massimiliano,
First of all let me complement you on your awesome name :)

Now, as for the photography- I love the window you give us into their lives.
We get an interesting image of their daily lives and what they go through.

This applies to both stories, very well.

You obviously manage to create very good and intimate relationships with these people, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to get so many natural shots.
Very impressive and well done.

by the way, your "photographic language" is very strong, keep it up.

Re: NEW FEATURES

Thank you both for taking the time to look through my work.
To Daniel, yes, I think it's still the best way, but even better is showing up with prints in your hands :)
To Gidi, I like my name very much, sometimes it's too long and complicated for foreigners, but hey, I'm Italian and that's a very very latin name
