VII gallery opening - Georgia: The August War

VII Photo in association with Human Rights Watch and The Frontline Club presents a VII DUMBO opening of Georgia: The August War. The show is comprised of images from the work of photojournalists Marcus Bleasdale, Ron Haviv, and Donald Weber, who witnessed this swift and intense conflict between Georgia and Russia, providing a sweeping narrative of both the media's prominent and controversial role, as well as the sheer senselessness of the war that erupted in August.

Reception: Tuesday, November 18th, 6pm
Show dates: November 13th - December 31st 10am-6pm

Curated by: Denise Wolff with support from Human Rights Watch
RSVP: viidumbo@viiphoto.com

28 Jay Street, DUMBO, Bklyn

Re: VII gallery opening - Georgia: The August War

This should be a really great event. VII members Marcus and Ron, and VII Network shooter Don, did some excellent work there and the product is terrific. All LSers in NYC should catch this show, especially on opening night with the Human Rights Watch people who were also in Georgia at the time. HRW is doing some serious work these days.

BTW, VII was really lucky to get Denise Wolff, formerly of Phaidon publishing, to contribute her very considerable talents to those of Carroll Bogart of HRW, in producing and installing the show. It should also be a real treat because of their skills and efforts.

For those coming to this event tonight, you might take a listen at the "*NPR piece*":http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97008964 from this morning on the details now surfacing about what really was going on that resulted in the Georgia/Russia war. One of the Human Rights Watch workers in Georgia is a part of the interview.

The show was wonderful, I'm glad I made the trek out for it. It was fantastic to see so much powerful work. Unfortunately my car was broken into while parked, thankfully nothing was lost.
