Nikon Rubber Failure

Anyone had any luck gluing the rubber back on your nikon bodies? mine is all stretched out and coming off. i was thinking about trimming it to fit back in, but i am having some confusion about glues. i know it was originally on there with a double sided tape-kind of adhesive, but that stuff has completely failed. i am not so concerned about keeping the camera mint or anything, as my main homey rodrigo told me, "victor, we are fotoreporters, we are not fashion photographers. you can't worry about this kind of shit." any advice would be helpful. thanks,

Go to the old technicians, those guys who usually fix your 35mm. For put back the rubber, they have cut some and use the double side-tape. I tried for myself, But I sent the camera to a expert: my old 35mm technician
also, if you need anything else fixed, as horrible as it is to have to send it in to Nikon, they come back with new grip after repairs are done.

Victor,
Hugo is right. I was talking to some technician other day and it seems like most of those local repairing places uses double sided tape. You can purchase this killer Double Sided Tape from 3M. Here is the link below:

Good luck.
For a Nikon rubber failure, your best choice is the Canon morning-after pill.

Re: Nikon Rubber Failure

then have the nice round dial fall off, then what?

The rubber palm grip on my D2H is a little different design then the other D series, in particular the d70, the rubber looks a little more flush, and the palm doesn´t catch or rub as much as the D2H. I haven´t seen anyone with this problem here, or, maybe the other photographers are too embarrased to show a problem with their cameras, not sure if this is a wide spread problem.

For a solution, can´t offer one yet as I am not much of a palmer, and my rubber is still intact, but starting to flip up a little on the corners, but it does have me worried as I like to keep everything in top shape as much as I can.

Back to the drawing board for Nikon.

Should of kept the old camera box with a hole in the side, less moving parts.

Nikon always have this problem - same on my F5 - tried to superglue myself and still came unstuck. Sent it back to Nikon UK they reglued serviced the camera and put all the little caps back on for £70. Not ideal and took 2 weeks ..... still since then it has been great. Think previous owner left it in hot car or something like that.
Lost the CF slot cover rubber on all the D2 bodies I've worked with. It just happens, I guess. But yeah, if you send in the cameras for service, most of the time Nikon changes all the rubber, etc. Otherwise I just leave it.
