But unlike other topics where we scroll through a chronological history of postings, it seems like it would be useful for the sub topics (ie, dermatologist, computer repair store, cheap dinner) to be easily locatable. So, as an example, if I need a dentist quickly, I don't have to wade through postings for good sweet shops, excellent yoga studios, etc. In short, it could be a place to share about "folks who treat us right." Conversely, I can see the anti-recommendations being posted too; "people/businesses which are not great." Tricky how information would be identified vis a vis subject field: "good doctor" doesn't begin to address information about the area of expertise and location of office (two factors which would immediately influence whether I even want to look at that posting). I like the idea of nominated resources getting user-rated with some room for comments from the rater. Then people could submit star ratings along with their comments, and we'll do an average star rating? Maybe Eugene can draw a mock-up? I don't know how important a star rating system is, but it would be good if there's a place on each subject for feedback, alternatives, etc. ie. retsu starts a subject/topic recommending his proctologist. then jon anderson adds the contact info for his proctologist in the Dominincan Republic. Adam Cohen weighs in with a cautionary tale about a quack proctologist he once visited in Cuba. Perhaps at that point, we will have a proctologist in the member directory who will post on the subject, offering a Lightstalkers bulk rate for proctology.
