I also looked around the blurb site. Were there any problems or glitches working with this self-publisher? Are these duotones, or tritones? Sat, 07 Mar 2009 18:09:22 +0000 http://www.lightstalkers.org/peru-book-finally-completed#142829 Re: Peru Book Finally Completed!! hey joel, working with the blurb software was ok though a bit limited in what you can do with their templates. however, they have updated it since i created the book and there may be a lot more options now. you must finish your book project rather fast as if they update the software you will be unable to make changes to an existing project. for example i cannot alter the peru book at all now so that is a problem. all the images were put in digitally, i did not send any prints or duotones. they are digital files that i scanned from the original tri x negs. thanks for looking. A rough estimate is ok. Sun, 08 Mar 2009 09:54:26 +0000 http://www.lightstalkers.org/peru-book-finally-completed#142848 Re: Peru Book Finally Completed!! Will, think there are about 70 images. A couple of more questions if you don't mind? Were the tri-x negs drum scanned, or with a Nikon type scanner? Is there a proofing stage in the process where you can see some sample reproductions before printing? If you wanted to, could you make both hardcover and softcover version, the latter to keep the price lower? Wed, 11 Mar 2009 16:11:20 +0000 http://www.lightstalkers.org/peru-book-finally-completed#143038 Re: Peru Book Finally Completed!! Yeah Joel, you can do both softcover or hardcover. I am working on another book that I will do in softcover just for that reason. Especially in times like these. No drum scanning, I used a Nikon scanner and then downloaded the files, its a pretty simple process, no sample reproductions but you could do a tiny softcover book for minimal cost to check if you like it or not before you commit.
