Watch this for a couple days and you'll find one... Maybe even one that closer than NYC.

There must be a run on Canon primes these past three or four weeks at B&H and Adorama. I just got a 28mm f2.8 that's nowhere near as expensive as the L line and I had to wait the better part of a month to get it from Amazon. The assembly line must be slow this month.

The 35 1.4L has always been hard to find. It took me like 6 months to find mine 4 years ago, can't remember where I bought it from but it was one of the smaller outfits. Too bad I just dropped it onto solid concrete :( I don't recommend doing that.

hello gents. thank you so much for your advice. apparently there really was a run on all high end lenses----and most retailers are still waiting for a shipment from japan for canon that will take 3 weeks.

however, that being said. found best little store in ny that not only had that lens but had many back up batteries for five d mark II and other assorted stuff backordered. thick NY accents and kinda pushy on phone but....they know their shit.

p.s. bob.....i miss you and the gorgeous marina. xxxx

Please, if anybody read my mention of ordering from preferred photo--do not take it as advice to do so. was sharing. and wish i had not ordered from them. total scam and night mare. will send out a separate post on lightstalkers once i am finished with the drama. still enmeshed, not pretty.

but trust me. do NOT order from them. only adorama, b&h, and calumet for me from now on. if anybody DID order, please feel free to contact me about potential methods of dealing with them.

Sorry to hear that Tanya, I think most of us have been burnt once before by the NY scam shops. The good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it, is that the experience is usually so egregious that we make sure it never happens again.

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble Tanya. Don't go anywhere that has either a remote Brooklyn address or no brick and mortar location or both. Some guy went to a lot of trouble to put this site together http://donwiss.com/pictures/brooklynstores/ about all the sketchiness in bklyn. The accents can be a classic give away.

some rural semi-high-end camera shops carry the 35 (and 50 1.2). when i bought mine, calumet in philly was out, b&h was out and so was keh and i drove 20 miles away from the city and got one at a place called New York Camera & Video: http://www.nycv.com
