Women's Photo Workshop in Bolivia

WPOW (Women Photojournalists of Washington), is very excited to announce that we are hosting a benefit photo workshop this year to fundraise for our organization’s new educational programs including new scholarship and grant programs for 2009.

WPOW is a nonprofit dedicated to the advancement and education of female photographers, students and media professionals, founded in Washington, D.C.

We are hosting a fundraiser for a women only beginning and intermediate photography workshop in Bolivia (http://momentaworkshops.com/bolivia09.php). Momenta Workshops has agreed to do logistics for this benefit trip and donate their training model to make this a success.

The lead instructors on this trip will be multiple Pulitzer Prize and POY winner Carol Guzy of the Washington Post and international award winning photo editor and Director of Photography Cathaleen Curtiss at AOL. The workshop is held from June 28-July 11, 2009.

This benefit workshop will take place in beautiful Bolivia with nightly lectures on the history of photography, how women have played a role in media development, understanding how to take documentary images and so much more. You will photograph every day with instructors and staff who will be helping you craft a narrative documentary essay on Andean culture and history. Students will get 1-on-1 editing with our amazing instructors and staff daily.

Attendees will travel throughout Bolivia during its brief winter season, with local Bolivian guides and translators. They will have the opportunity to explore the witch's market in La Paz, the rolling lush shores of Lake Titicaca, the blessing of the cars on Sundays in Copacabana, the world famous salt lake at Uyuni and the historic district and bustling markets of Sucre. This workshop is catered to challenge all levels of skill.

Every dollar spent directly benefits the nonprofit and women in photojournalism!

Sign up for this wonderful opportunity. No matter your skill level, this workshop will make your photography better. Pass along the information to any woman you know who is interested in photography and encourage them to sign up. Signing up for this workshop is a great way to give back to the community of women photographers and help it grow stronger.

For more information, please contact the Director of Workshops directly at 202.203.8758 or email info@momentaworkshops.com .

Thank you for your help & hope to see some of you on our great charity fundraising workshop!
