[Lightstalkers] Who are you using to process, print, and scan in NYC? http://www.lightstalkers.org/who-are-you-using-to-process-print-and-scan-in-nyc An entire Lightstalkers thread via RSS/XML. en-us Who are you using to process, print, and scan in NYC? I'm looking for a great NYC based lab, that seriously knows what it's doing in regards to B&W film. I specifically need a lab that offers a develop, print, and scan service with emphasis on at least decent print quality scans. Bonus points for a lab that has a few choices of developers. Thanks! ps. I'm also open to labs outside of NYC if they are great, FedEx is an option. Hi Michael..you may want to use a few people so that you get the best of each service.. For developing I have been using Alan Chin, who hand processes everything (http://www.lightstalkers.org/alanschin RedHookLab@gmail.com (917) 309-8866).. Some people use Brian Young (phototechnica: (646) 932-0917)I've never worked with him because his lab is out of the way for me. For exhibition prints prints I use Sergio at Black & White On White (212) 226-3116 153 Lafayette St, New York, NY Scans are another issue..depends on what you need - low res of everything on your roll to show to clients or hi res imacom / drum? Michael, I've recently heard some very good things about Charlie Griffin, who is based in New York: http://www.griffineditions.com/ He offers digital silver gelatin prints. I saw some print examples from this process in London last week, and I would say for b&w prints today, it's the way to go. Michael: I used Brian Young for the first time in April and he comes highly recommended. Also his prices are slightly cheaper than others. I had forgotten about Brian Young, and I'm sure he does not remember me, but I had him make some prints for me in like 2000?! It was a good experience. Also, heads up for anyone looking to work with MV. They have moved out of their Meat Packing District space. I don't have the address, but the they are now around 5th Ave in the thirties. Thanks for the replies everyone. Fri, 03 Jul 2009 20:34:13 +0000 http://www.lightstalkers.org/who-are-you-using-to-process-print-and-scan-in-nyc#150725
