European girl Living in Bangladesh

Hello,
If i can get it all arranged, i might move to Dhaka, Bangladesh February 2010. There i want to study photography.
Does anybody had advice for me? This can be a place for sharing experiences and ideas that will help me or other foreigners who would like to live un Bangladesh for a while.
- Advice on living, what are the best neighbourhoods? How much is the cost of living in Dhaka, housing, food etcetra.
- Any cultural issues i need to think of before i leave or while i am there.
- Could i find a job?
- Could i volenteer in projects?
- Is Dhaka safe for women?
- Are there many foreigners living there, and easy to meet? What is a popular place to hang out?

And all useful information, tips, websites are helpfull!!

Thanks a lot!

I have the impression that it is a hard place to "study" photography. There is little, if any, instruction available, according to the Bangladeshis at the South Asian Foundry Workshop last July. So the part of "study" that gives you professional feedback may be difficult or impossible to come by. While there are plenty of social issues to cover, I think they can be overwhelming.<p>Suggestion...try living there for a month and see how you feel. Then decide whether to become a resident.

Thank you so much for all advice and tips, all is very helpful.
To Neal; look at http://www.pathshala.net/ this is the program i am looking into. It seems very interesting. I first heard about it at the Travelling Chobi Mela in Kathmandu 'this summer. I was traveling in India and Nepal for 5 months (feb '09 - jul 09) and wonder if i can compare a little bit some living situations of these countries and Bangladesh. I'ts super exciting.
