Bringing film to Cuba

I am flying to Havana tomorrow morning with 2 cameras, an extra lens and 2 ziplocks full of medium format film. I would like to know what people's experiences have been at the Havana airport with this type of equipment. My husband is Cuban-American so we are going legally direct from Miami. I do not have a press pass. I am praying that they will not insist on xraying my film.
Any words of advice from past visitors?
Thanks.

You shouldn't have any issues at all. My kit has never been searched going in, but it will obviously be x-rayed when you leave. To be on the safe side, you could always pop into B&H/Adorama for one of these:

I've been there a couple of times with similar amount of equipment and didn't have any problems at the airport. Film was x-rayed but, not being very high iso, it also wasn't a problem.

The only time I've heard of people having trouble was a couple years ago when everyone thought Fidel was going to kick the bucket and the gov clamped down on the media. Now, like before, getting film in and out is usually not a problem. Getting it developed there however, is not such a good idea.

if you have high iso film that you don´t want x-rayed they will gladly do a visual inspection by opening the box to confirm it is film...

Never had a problem with film needing to be x-rayed in Havana, on one of my first trips however we waited for one of our checked bags for long after everyone else had left the hall. When it finally arrived we found it had been emptied of anything that might have been of value to them. Biggest loss was a bag of "MLB" baseballs for the kids. No problems since though.

Any current issues with travel from Miami to Havana? Traveling this week with a visa and a moderate amount of gear... Any heads-up appreciated.
