      <title>The Photojournalists' Cooperative: Join Us!</title>
<description>The Photojournalists Cooperative has gone viral. We have 800 members and growing fast...please join us!

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=119223038089277&amp;ref=mf

We will help freelance photographers navigate fair deals in these challenging times for photojournalism, when prices and support from publications have dropped precipitously.

Supportive discussions should take place regarding print and the Internet. As the Internet continues to evolve, we need to push for better fees and protection for our work.

Also, we will help emerging freelance photographers keep their copyright and understand what a living wage looks like, in an age when photojournalism is sharply undervalued. The new de-facto paradigm undermines our future livelihoods and our business as a whole, and only through good information and awareness of our rights can we protect our interests.

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=119223038089277&amp;ref=mf

This group is for working freelance photographers.

This group's mission is to give freelance photographers a platform where they will exchange ideas and help each other maintain high standards as they navigate the dramatically changing business of
photography in the areas of: image licensing, contracts and copyright protection.

We believe that the more photographers know, the better it is for the marketplace.

<title>Re: The Photojournalists' Cooperative: Join Us!</title>
<description>The site was started by a group of photographers. We thought this was important in current challenging business climate to have a place where photographers can go to get help and share information regarding contracts, copyright, and licensing images.
We chose Facebook because lot of photographers are on there already, young, new and established. And we wanted specifically a platform just for this (not other stuff). Face it , Facebook has become our rolodex. FB Group feature works well for this.

The site has gone viral, and has 1400 member in two days. We want people to bookmark the group, use it and contribute to it.

Yunghi

<description>Joined the group, Facebook is great to get support for the cause, Yunghi, but for a group dealing with business practices wouldn't a site that would allow for threads, searches on topics, resources, much more sense in the long run? Perhaps you will add that later.</description>

<title>Re: The Photojournalists' Cooperative: Join Us!</title>
<description>There's discussions tab, and you can see threads already started.

Facebook seems fastest way to do it and there's already captive audience of photographers there too. We are up to 2,000 already in 4 days.
I think it's a good platform.

Maybe Lightstalkers wants to start something more permanent with searchable topics, dedicate a specific but prominently displayed area for the topic of business of photography? And link it to FB TPC(The Photojournalists Cooperative) page?

The mission is to educate.

:)
