Ken Light Teaches Documentary Storytelling

Ken will be out to New York from the west coast for his solo show, "Coal Hollow" at ICP (through Feb 26) and will be teaching a weekend course for them on February 18th and 19th. Beyond simple fieldwork skills this workshop will help students bring the work together into a powerful body of work that can be made ready for publication. The class will explore important documentary books and projects to understand the process of storytelling and it publication. For more information, please visit the ICP School website: www.icp.org and view the winter course catalogue: http://www.icp.org/atf/cf/{A0B4EE7B-5A90-46AB-AF37-7115A2D48F94}/winter_programs_guide.pdf

"Coal Hollow" is a four year photographic and oral history project that examines the mining communities of southern West Virginia. While the recent mining accidents have brought national attention to the working conditions of miners, this show and the book reveal the silent crisis in which mining families live: www.coalhollow.org
