About The Tiziano Project (http://www.tizianoproject.org)

The Tiziano Project provides community members in conflict, post-‐conflict, and underreported regions with the equipment, training, and affiliations necessary to report their stories and improve their lives.

We develop and encourage first-‐class collaborative journalism on a global scale, while expanding knowledge and access to information worldwide, though empowering communities to tell their stories.

By creating opportunities for professional journalists and filmmakers to work side-by‐side with community members, we develop collaborative documentary projects that transcend mainstream media and help to change perceptions of the regions in which we work.

The Tiziano Project has led programs in Iraq, Israel, Palestine, Turkey, Latvia, Somalia, Rwanda, DR Congo, Kenya, and the United States.

In 2010, The Tiziano Project launched the 360 Kurdistan – 360.tizianoproject.org – an immersive, nonlinear website that provides an in-‐depth look at Kurdistan through the eyes of both the local community – including Kurds, Arabs, and Christians – and their professional journalist mentors.

The website received international recognition, including the Online Journalism Award for Community Collaboration, a Gracie Award for coverage of Women’s Issues, SXSW’s Award for Activism, and honors from the Society for News Design, Adobe, and the Webbys. We are currently developing this website into a global platform for collaborative storytelling through a Knight News Challenge grant cosponsored by the Knight Foundation and Google.
