Young and Hungry, looking for guiadance

I am a young and 25 year old male. I have a love for cameras, photography, and video. Maybe its because I've been on this planet for 25 years now, but I have a burning desire to capture images that hold meaning. I'm willing/wanting to travel anywhere and will do anything. I just want to learn while being allowed to be me, simultaneously. I need help figuring out how i can embark on this journey but still be able to maintain my homebase in Beacon. I dont need much to survive and i can live frugally. All help is greatly appreciated. I guess what i'm asking is...how do i start?

Well, what holds meaning for you? That's a good place to start. What appeals to you? What story would you like to tell? And it's good you can live frugally. A useful skill these days.

try applying for fellowships or travel grants that allow you to go take pics that way you maintain your homebase and have a budget for the trip and can sell the photos you take
try foundations like knight foundation, or you can also check out international exchange programs that allow you to go to specific country if your proposal is accepted (does that help?)

There's a common misconception that in order to "photograph" you need to travel. If you can't make pictures on the block where you live you need to pursue something else. There are thousands of stories to be told in your town. John, Sarah and Damaso have good advice, above. You might get more helpful hints if you posted some photographs so that we LS'ers might have a better idea of what level you are working at. Good luck with your photography.
