I'm mostly interested in how to plan for freelance projects, finding and dealing with fixers, finding subjects and interviewing them, editing and composing a story with a hands on approach to organizing everything with little financial backing. I have been considering a workshop from Zoriah Miller, because of his know how of getting in with seeminly few connections, roughing it with little funds and his prolificacy, but I have made concerns since his workshops are so expensive (although lasting for a week usually) and I've never really admired his actual photos as I think they are over edited in such a cinematic way that they don't convey a truer sense of the subject, and I recently watched the episode of "In Harm's Way" with him, and there's a few issues I'ev had with that. If you know of any other photographers who lead workshops in this area, I would be very thankful. Not dedicated exclusively to war photography, but most of the teachers have extensive experience in that field. I attended here in Buenos Aires in 2011, working with Ron Haviv, and mostly everything you asked was part of the training. This year it's held in Sarajevo, it's not expensive and, IMHO totally worth it. Many times they offer workshops as well. What are the issues you had with "In Harm's Way"? On my opinion the film is to stylish and adventorous re-creating the hero-image of war photograhers.
