Quick tips on using Lightstalkers

Hi, and thanks to everyone who's submitted bug reports and suggestions. They're very helpful and we've already made some good progress! I just have two quick tips for everyone:

* You *don't need to sign anything*. Every post or reply shows "Posted by so-and-so" right underneath, so your name will show up twice if you sign things.
* Lightstalkers has an *RSS feed*, which might help some of you keep up with new posts. The "feed link":http://lightstalkers.org/ls/rss-global.cfm is at the bottom of every page.
* Many of you haven't *verified* your accounts yet. This is pretty easy to do; if you don't still have your original verification link from when you registered, you can request another link from "your profile page":profile.cfm. You may want to make sure that mail from lightstalkers.org isn't being spam-blocked, while you're at it.

*Coming soon*
A lot of peeps have been asking me about these, and I want to let you know that we are hard at work getting them ready.

*New design/navigation*
We're going to improve the interface a bit to make it easier to navigate.

*Galleries*
Apparently you guys like to take pictures. Pretty soon you're going to be able to upload them into galleries, viewable by other Lightstalkers.

*Time zone support*
Right now, Lightstalkers is operating on Pacific time only. Soon, we'll have fancy time zone support, especially useful for those of you overseas.

Thanks again for participating in this early stage of the site's development!

say. is the fancy time zone support going to screw up the way in which posts appear on the site? especially with respect to "recent posts" etc?

Astute question -- no, this won't affect the layouts we've been working with. The only perceivable difference in the design/layout will be the appearance of a zone tag in the time..

Example:
"Posted by eugene kuo on July 27 2004 at 8:21PM EST"

When it comes to sorting messages on the home page, and so forth, we'll sort by the zulu (GMT) equvalent of each message's date. That way, the list will be an accurate indication of what order the messages were posted in, even if the _local_ times shown seem "out of order".
