London Crown in the central district of Bur Dubai is safe, affordable, and near banks, consulates, cultural and shopping areas. There are 2 kinds: hotel and furnished hotel apartment (apartelle). A studio costs US$54/night and a 1BH costs $82. You can split the cost among your mates. Ask beforehand how many people can be squeezed into a suite. The price includes ensuite bathroom (most with tub), kitchenette with utensils, automatic washer/dryer, free parking, and, in the old days, free daily breakfast. There are many other similar hotel apartments in the same district.
