Skype all the way

A lot of you already know it but I'm sure a lot of you don't.
I'm talking about skype.

You find it on www.skype.com.

The free version permits you to contact web to web by written chat, voice ... As Ichat, messenger, or yahoo messenger you'll tell me. But this one you don't have to have any account just download the program. It's not necessary to have an e-mail account to have that. And it works really well.

Other thing is that they have a web to phone deal. It's not free but it charges really little. Same price or less than the prepaid cards you can find around, just you don't have to go and find the cards you just pay on the web and call anywhere in the world for really cheap. (ex: Italy to Belgium 0,50 Euro for 40 min)

For the ones that are in the field if they really have to use a sat phone to get in touch with they're job givers (I know it's expensive) it's a way to make b-gan work as a phone I guess. I never tried but I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Before using your Bgan for it, it might be a good idea seeing how much bandwidth it eats with menumeters (for Mac that is, dunno about people serving the dark lord!)

Also, Chin would you please explain to Giovanni the big advantage of string-can phones ;)

Re: Skype all the way

everyone knows that i prefer communicating by telegraph, or carrier pigeon.
the music of the morse code, dot dot dot, dash dash dash. the lost art of writing in cablelese, the teletype paper spilling onto the floor, the telex girls prim and proper, the smell of carbon paper and mimeograph machines, the long clicks of the rotary telephones, the hard clatter of Underwood typewriters, i am just old enough that in 1989, i sold my first photographs of Tiananmen Square to Reuters and the guys made prints and slapped the prints onto these big, spinning, rolling cylinders, which transmitted the grainy images around the world. that's why they called it "wirephoto."

Johan did the test: for 20 min Skype ate around 6 MB. So B-gan users have to make the cost math. One thing is sure in emergency case fuck the money!

For Alan: man for a traditional type writer guy you are getting the blog thing pretty darn well!!
