Visa Iraq

Hey,
I'm going to Iraq and applied for a visa at the Iraqi Embassy in Washington two weeks ago.
Does anybody have an idea about how to speed things up there?
Is there anybody who went through this visa thing recently and can tell me how long it took?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Christoph,
there are a few companies that specialize in processing and expediting visas and travel documents. I've used Visa Advisors...
I think it's www.visaadvisors.com

for a fee, they'll handle applications, and usually for a larger fee, they'll handle them faster.

Hey,
Since when did they (Americans,Iraqis) require visas? Are there now Iraqi soldiers/police manning the border? I seem to remember US soldiers just waving everyone across if they didn't look arab.

Christoph,

I spent last summer in Iraq, there were indeed Iraqi's stamping passports at the airport, but you didn't need a visa, they just stamped your book. Kinda' like going to Mexico, kinda.
have fun......and beware of the hotel Al Fanar, and parked cars...

yes same as eros. I never got a visa. my visits were pre "handover", so I just rolled across the jordanian border. the first time, it was us soldiers waving us through, the second time there was an iraqi official of some kind stamping passports, but it was just entry and exit stamps, no visas.
