If You Havent Seen This Work, You Ought To

I am sure many of you know about the Oculi photographers based in Australia. But whether you have or havent, you might want to look at their site and study all the different ideas that are to found there. Among some of the unusual themes we have Horse Culture round the world by Glenn Hunt, a story called Almost Home by Nick Cubbin, Narelle Autio's Seventh Wave (a collaborative effort with Trent Parke), well the list just goes on and on. Excellent work

"HERE":http://www.oculi.com.au/ is the site.

Actually I had been looking for their site previously but never found it. I stumbled on it today because I happened to read Tamara's response to Jukka's Day in the Life of LS Members post "HERE":http://www.lightstalkers.org/really-important-thing-20060510#26399

So welcome Tamara, Jeremy, Jesse, Nick and Warren. Love your work, sorry it took so long for me to find the site. IMHO what you are all doing is the epitome of photographic imagination and serves as a great example of the breadth of themes that exist if one only stops to think about them. It made my day.

Re: If You Havent Seen This Work, You Ought To

Jon: i couldnt agree more. I've loved the work at Occuli since I discovered parke/autio's 7th wave and stumbled on the groups.....I actually prefer the work to many of the big name collectives, 'cause hell, theyre MY generation! :))))...another (for me) example of why we shouldnt aspire to Magnum/VII/VU (not offense John Vink and Ron Haviv ;))))) ), but must create our own, like Aranxta et. al did with Verasimages and the powerful women at EVE (and all you other LS members)....to all the Oculi LS members: MAY YOUR CHOOKS TURN INTO EMUS AND KICK YOUR DUNNY DOWN! ;))))...(I hope this is a good think, I read it in a Peter Carey novel, I think, and thought it sounded great....CHEERS, bob

I've been a fan from the beginning. Also check out In-Public where several of the Oculi image makers are featured as well.

There's to be a major show opening at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art this month that features several of these photographers and myself. It's called "CROSSWALKS: Contemporary Street Photography. I hope it'll travel.

The work at Oculi is sumptuous plus plus.

It's light done right.
