Which Wacom Tablet?

I have been looking into getting a wacom tablet, but all the reviews i have read have confusing advice- because they are used by illustrators and photographers, who have different needs...

so, i was wondering, anyone have advice about size (in this case, i think size does matter?) and model? the intuous vs. the graphire. right now, i'm leaning towards the graphire4 4x5 size to do pretty basic retouching work.

thanks in advance for any information you might be able to offer!

I use the 6x11 Intuous, most people will probably tell you to get the Intuous as its twice as sensitive.
Size is a personal decision I got the 6x11 as its wide format. Sometimes it feels a little big but it does provide a good amount of control, and when I upgrade to the 30" I'm sure it will feel even better.
Than again if cost is an issue you can often pick up a 4x5 graphire for 35 dollars on www.dealnews.com

When I first bought one I could only afford the Graphire, I had planned to upgrade at some time but have never felt the need to..even after trying a friends A5 Intuous.

Beware you will probably never want to use a mouse again! They are great!

Cheers

thanks, ya'll....

cost IS somewhat of an issue, but i don't want to have to buy another tablet bc the first one isn't sufficient. what kind of retouching do you do? and martin-- do you have the 4x5 or bigger? thanks again.

I have the A6 I'm in the UK - I think this is the 4 x 5 in the US. The small one. The eye/hand seem to adapt to the size. I don't see any need to change in the near future. If it helps I also teach PhotoShop at a local college and I purchased 8 of the tablets for them, the students get on well with them.

I got one few months ago, used it a few times and found that it was much easier for me to use the mouse when retouching.
So, for me, a tablet didn't work..

I have a small graphire at the moment because my old inutios (or something) broke down. I don not like the graphire and am going to get the inutios again.
I would not like to be with out one and there is a new world that opens up in changing from mouse to pen, specially with PS. I feel that the smaller ones are grate as you can take them with you any where. The bigger are more for those that are used to draw and paint.
