Ian Teh began his photo essay on China*s Yangtze River in 1999 as millions of lives were to be irreversibly altered and one of the world*s most spectacular landscapes lost forever. The giant Three Gorges Dam project would submerge 13 cities, 400 towns and 1,300 villages under 39 billion cubic metres of water.
