EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

*Oculi is looking for new member/s to join its Australian based photographic collective. Applicants must reside in Australia.*

The successful applicant/s will demonstrate a particularly high standard in documentary storytelling.

Applicants are required to submit a portfolio of 60-70 images including:

* Twelve single images * Two completed bodies of work * One ongoing series, or a work in progress

Optional: Applicants can include a short description for each of the three bodies of work.

Portfolios must be submitted in a digital format on CD:

* JPEG - Maximum compression (12) * 12 inches on the longest side * Resolution - 72 dpi * Filenames: first name_last name_01.jpg first name_last name_02.jpg etc

Send your application materials to:

*Applications must be postmarked by 16th July 2006.*

Please include a stamped, self addressed envelope if you want your materials returned.

Successful applicant/s will be notified by 31st August 2006

Need anybody to help you move?? I'd love to give Ceuta or Melilla a shot and then just cross into Morocco for phographic expeditions. I'd love Tunisia and even Lybia too. I just love the Mediterranean and the North of Africa isn't as spoiled as the European side of it. Sigh... I miss my traveling days... L

:)))...yea, when Occuli expands to another island (that of the globe), I'll apply! :))))...as stated, its my absolute "favorite" photog group :)))...the only other groups I like as much are VU and TangoPhoto ! :))))....anyway, good luck Occuli and whoever they choose! :))))))...cheers, bob

And Algeria, Mali, the mosque at Timbuctu, camel caravans across the desert, marauding bandits, . . . praise of Allah floating across the city rooftops on a sultry evening. Then on to Egypt. "toi qui vive en moi comme l'aire que je respire, o soleil d'egypte"

Only other place I want to see as badly is Sanaa in Yemen.

Australia is so very far from the rest of the world... It is one of the reasons Oculi exists... Jake, we too, have butterflies in our stomachs in anticipation... Vittorio, Australia is the "other" Italy... Jon, the sun in oz is much stronger than Egypt... The sun is strong, yet soft around the edges with crisp shadows that fall over the land. The ocean is like another universe surrounding the island... and we dream with our eyes open...

Do they grow Ayahuasca and Peyotes in Oz too?? Damn, I really miss having my summers from December to March... Sigh... Summers in the middle of the calendar year are unnatural (unless one moves to the Caribbean, like some smart guy here, then you have summer all year... :-) )

Luis the government also has a immigration policy that doesn't allow riffraff photo-types( unless you pay into the government coffers) into the country along with any other refugee or person that Howard, Ruddock, Vanstone and co don't like, ie you must go power walking in a gawdy bright floral top, trackie dackies and sensible shoes. If you can fit the criteria you are most welcome to Australia and stay in one of our refugee camps that will now be located on a Pacific island, 3months minimum stay and C.O.D

Er... No poor artist types allowed?? No thank you... I've already paid my "refugee" dues, with 20 years of hard work, in another anglo-saxon country with a cowboy culture... I think I'll apply in New Zealand and live with the Hobbits left there after they finish Lord of the Rings... :-)

Get yourself a handbag and take up rugby union(players hit themselves with handbags and cry a lot) and you will be a shoein to New Zealand.
