      <description>recieved from OSI:

PHOTOGRAPHY AS ADVOCACY?

Please join us as Bob Blancato, Ed Kashi, Kaja Snell, and Julie Winokur consider how documentary photography has reframed our perceptions of growing old and reshaped the way we view the elderly. Susan Meiselas will moderate.

The Photography as Advocacy? forum series features photographers from the Open Society Institute*s documentary photography exhibition, Moving Walls. These forums analyze the role that photography plays in advocacy, the extent to which it is successful, and how those involved*as subject, photographer, or audience*perceive the work and the effect. They also consider how a photographer*s agenda influences the final project.

Ed Kashi*s images are currently on display at the Columbia University School of Social Work.

When:

Monday, April 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Where:

Columbia University School of Social Work

1255 Amsterdam Avenue

Room 311/312
