I'll be in London for a few weeks in August and was wondering if anyone has recommendations on very cheap places to stay? Kitra

Hi Kitra, I made the same question weeks ago. A collegue told me a small hostel at Victoria, http://www.accomodata.co.uk/100796.htm (34 Belgrave road). If you arrive from any airport at London goes to Victoria station. Outside the station at Belgrave road, walk 5-7 minutes and you will find the Marne and other small hotels. I payed 55 pounds for a nice room with big bed, shower and toilette. But if you stay for 2 weeks they will do a discount. The breakfast is plenty english with eggs, jam, toasts... Call them, emails doesnt work, or never answer. You will need a credit card number. Enjoy and nice time at London. delmi alvarez

Hey Kitra, A friend of mine who's currently in California on holidays has a flat in Kennington (just off Cleaver Square) where you could stay. It's not cheap, but at a 130 pounds per week it would be far cheaper than staying in a hostel or hotel. You would also have the place to yourself. PM me if you're interested, and I'll see what I can arrange for you.

Hi, Kitra, Has school started at LSE yet? In the summer, they often let out their door rooms at prices that are more than favorable to London hotel rooms. W

I want to voice my support for choosing Astor Hostels. I stayed at the Victoria Astor Hostel and it was great for the money. Very centrally and conviniently located, as well as easy to find after a certain someone discovered he actually had a map on his person.. The next time I am in London I will most likely be staying at a Astor Hostel as well.

I stayed in a place called 'Belsize House' in Belsize Park for a few weeks four years ago. It's a little gritty, but cheap at around $15 a night for shared accomodation and it has a great vibe..lots of young brazilians, spaniards, congolese, south africans living there. It's out of the city center, but it's only a 10 minute tube ride.

Hi Kitra Cahana First of all I really like your documentary on falashas. And as for London what is your budget, if it is law I will recommend you stay out of town. If you don't care about the scenery of where you are staying try around Greenwich, Croydon Clapham etc. The more centre you are the more expensive it is.
