Corrupt/unreadable NEF

HELP!!!
I just got back from a shoot and two of the folders on my SanDisk Ultra II 2GB CF card are corrupt/unreadable. Does anyone know of a good and free for image/folder recovery program?
Thanks.

You might try PhotoRescue (try it in demo mode and see if it will recover the images; if so, you can then purchase the program . . . relatively inexpensive). Available at www.datarescue.com/photorescue/

Lots of other choices out there as well.

Here's a few other options (don't know how well they'll work but might be worth a try):

ImageRescue (do a goggle for it, as well as other image recovery programs)
Check SanDisk, I think they have an image recovery program as well

Also if you were shooting NEFS (RAW) you might try Preview Extractor, which will extract the largest of the embedded previews in NEFs: - http://drchung.new21.net/previewextractor/

Finally, make sure that the extensions on the files are correct (were you shooting RAW or JPEGS??)

Thanks. Just downloaded and ordered a full version of photo rescue. I was shooting NEFS at this one, a conert. Never had problems with SanDisk until now. Wierd eh? I just tried preview extractor and it didn't seem to work. Thanks again for the help.

Glad you solved the problem.

Hard to know if it was a card problem or a camera problem (ie battery low, pulling the card before it finished writing or any number of other issues). I shoot primarily with the Ultra II cards and fortunately have never had a problem with them. But I do have PhotoRescue on my computer just in case.

I'm glad too. You know, I've never had issues with Ultra II cards until last night. Will let you know how it goes.

Bill, try to update the firmware of your camera. Sometimes this things happens when you shoot raw with non-updated camera
