Photo Festivals

http://www.festivalunion.com/htm/main.htm

"PHOTO FESTIVAL UNION is a new association for European festivals of photography that will be established in September 2005. The idea of the organization comes from the Foundation of Visual Education in Poland. The main motivation for establishing the Union is the exchange of the information between associated events. Furthermore, the Union would like to be a point for wide cooperation within organizing exhibitions, lectures, workshops, slide-shows and portfolio reviews.

Next important issue is promotion of the festivals through common website, mailing list and newsletters. The website is a comprehensive and updated base presenting not only Photo Festival Union association itself but, above all, achievements and plans of particular members. We can also see here the way of promotion of young artists. It helps spreading knowledge on photography and other visual creations, especially by annual thematical album and exhibitions.

Among the members of Photo Festival Union there are 28 biggest international festivals of photography in Europe. It joins people and institutions with the same goals and values and gives its members possibility to meet experienced organizers and curators from other countries, to share experience and new ideas."

Art Awards, two not shown on your recent list include these:

- New Orleans, sometime in early December (I believe it's being sponsored by the New Orleans Photo Alliance)

- A big one in Washington -- Fotoweek/DC. It's still being structured by a group including the National Geographic, but will begin a week of festivities about November 15.
