All proceeds will go towards the making of: Terra Livre Terra Livre (Free Land) is a documentary film about the struggle, strength, and organization of a cooperative farm in southern Brazil birthed by the Landless Workers Movement, the MST. Terra Livre will activate and inspire viewers as they learn about the largest social movement in Latin America and experience the story of 12 families who came together to build a community and discover the balance between self sufficiency and cooperation. El Cocalero Bolivia is currently under extreme civil unrest, as constant wars over the exploitation of their natural resources have created a degrading social and economic reality. A look at the anthropological, folkloric, agricultural, and economic history of coca offers a lens through which we can understand the complexity involved in Bolivia*s desperate state of affairs and how international politics * namely U.S. relations * effect the country*s survival and progress. The U.S. policies toward coca production have not succeeded in controlling the cocaine industry, yet these very policies continue to obstruct Bolivia*s ability to develop sustainable markets and to implement viable solutions for strategic change. In addition, the cultural value of coca among Andean people is virtually unknown to the world at large. This film will reveal a comprehensive story of the coca plant through individuals affected by Bolivia*s coca dilemma such as coca farmers, U.S. and Bolivian government officials, ethno-botonists, and indigenous leaders.
