? scanning line drawing in NYC ? -- large format

I've got an 8x17 inch line drawing which I need to scan at 1200 dpi before submitting to client. My current scanner is too small, and I don't want to scan in pieces due to intricate line work. Does anyone know of any New York City/Brooklyn shops where I can get a tabloid sized scan?

(Alternately, if you've got a good deal on a large format flatbed scanner, let me know!)

Thank you in advance for your help.

The ICP (ICP.org) has large format flatbed scanners in their digital lab if you can make your way in there.
Also, you could try Shauna Church (shauna at shaunachurch dot com) who teaches there and has her own studio as well.

Thank you, Johan -- all the way from Iraq.
I've got a bit more time now for this project, so I can research further my scanner-quest.

Best Wishes,

In conclusion, I ended up buying a Microtek 9800XL with Transparency Media Adapter. I found an "open box" one for $1200 at MacMall. It showed up poorly packed and ended up having one of the TMA mount posts snapped off. Because it's an open box purchase, Microtek won't touch it. I'm going after MacMall now. We'll see how it all works out. But, otherwise the scanner works great, and I've submitted my finished illustration, digitally, to the client. And the price was right, so I can't complain too much.

Retsu -- sorry I got to this so late -- I just hit dubai and finally got access to a decent connection. I have a the Epson 1650 XL, and it's really good. so if you end up returning the microtek, mine should work for your dimensions.
also, for doing oversize work, you could shoot a digital image off a copy stand.

Crazy MacMall now wants me to return the whole order because of this broken post (they can't fix it). I'm gonna see what Microtek will charge for the repair and see if I can't get MacMall to eat the cost. Let's touch base when you're back in BK -- I'd like to know more about this "shooting a digital image off a copy stand" thing. It sounds useful for any illustrations/paintings which exceed the flatbed's tabloid scanning area. Gotta go do a tofu run, besides. Safe travels, my man.
