Finally this is it?!!!! My website

Hello everybody,
I have been trying and trying ways to publish a website but without the hussle of the html or to have to pay for a domain name and a web space and I thought to give it a try with the iweb. It is in preparatory form and I am on it in trial form, but I would very much appreciate any advice and comments as I go through it.
Thanks a lot

Ektor,

Take a look at formatting tips to make a link.

Ektor Dimisianos

Hope this helps. Pretty good. I’ve been exploring using iweb also. I’d also like to know how to incorperate a slide show with sound and/or music. I know its been discussed. I just cant find the past threads.

Best wishes
Paul

Hey Ektor, looks cool. Found your blog a couple weeks ago and I’m a fan. Site works well enough. On first glance, though, the big `P` on the front page makes your name look like “Pektor.” Also, one thing I’ve heard from editors is that they don’t want to have to search for a name and contact info. Best to put it on every page in the heading area where all the links are. As it is, I think your name only appears on the front page and the about page (which makes it one click away from being associated with your pictures) and I can’t find an email address or phone number.

I’ll second my friend Scott – the pictures are great and the site works well enough. My main issue is with the way photos display. The auto slideshow has a really annoying ‘mirror’ at the bottom of the picture, which tricked my eye a couple of times. At very least it distracted me, but it also felt less professional. The alternative of looking at each picture individually was not really better, I want to be able to flip through pictures (i.e. forward and back links) in a set, rather than have to open each in a new window, and then close each to get to the next. I don’t know how much flexibility you have with iweb to modify these things, but you should try because it does take away from the work. Let the pictures shine and don’t let them get caught up in a difficult user interface. The pictures are worth it!

Hello Ektor

How are you?

The image quality is good but there are a few things that I did not like regarding the
site itself. I agree about the big P it makes your name look like Pektor. And the mirror at the bottom of the image
looks weird. The main thing for me is the black background. I have never liked Black on websites. It is hard to render text and I think the images especially B/W get lost. I reckon it would look much better Dark Grey.

Also and (this maybe my browser) the slideshow’s pop up in a new window. It would look much better if they came into the same window.

Anyway I hope your well. Say hi to Angelina if you see him.

Ektor instead of Pektor
The mirror effect, not good to show this pictures.
The start slideshow button sucks!!! I try it to take it out or put another thing but finally I couldnt.
The rest it works very good and I found your pictures really interesting, specially the DockLands..remind me a Koudelka work….
About how to incorporate slide show to Iweb, i found also a website with the info but it was not clear at all, so if any LSer know something about, I would really apreciate, cause Im also doing the website with this Mac software..Thanks

Thanks everybody for the comments. It seems that i have overlooked many things. I ll be working on the website for the next couple of days trying to improve it.
You have given me many things to reconsider. You all are great.

Mark I hope you are ok. Thanks for your comments. I think you are right about the black. I will be writing you back. Have to go to work with a hangover. I was boozing it with Angelina last night. Athens by night…... OH my head still spins.

I second Scott and Matt so just a little addition. The small “thingies” around should go: The MadeWithMac-sign, the wisitor-count (if it is low it just reminds people that this site is not seen so often and hence not very good OR of it is high says that tis site is not updated very often…) Otherwise wery strong pictures that reminds me how great B/W is when it is good! Perhaps you could make the frontpage more ‘inviting’ by having more or bigger pictures there to give the visitor curiosity and a taste of the quality inside..? Some, or the option to have, explanatory text to the pictures (especially the portraits) would also be great.

Best regards.
