focus screens for nikon f100 + does anyone have a K3 screen for sale

Hi all

Do any of you techies know anything about Nikon focussing screens.
I have a F100 which is a great camera but I don’t really like the focussing screen. It’s fine with a 24mm but not with a 50mm or 85mm.

Its a flat matted screen with a centre spot that I presume is better suited to autofocus. As I never use auto I would like to use a split level focussing screen like I have on my old FM2. It’s much faster for focussing with manual.

So does anyone know if there is a split screen for the F100.
I was told you could fit a split level screen from a FM3a and file down the small lug but not 100% this works.

The split level screen in my FM2 is I believe this one.

Type K: Matte/Fresnel field with 3mm split-image rangefinder spot surrounded by 1mm-wide microprism doughnut. Rapid and accurate focusing for subjects with both straight lines and ill-defined contours.

Sorry for the long post but I need to sort something out ASAP.

Cheers.

Thanks Jason. I really cannot be bothered to google anything anymore. I presume you searched that for me.

Cheers.

Thanks to Jason I now know what I am after.

So does anybody have a K3 split-image screen from an FM3A for sale?

I know it’s a long shot but worth a try.

I don’t mind doing a spot of googling Mark. Basically I’m bored and sitting around in front of laptop waiting for some large files to upload and Torchwood to start on TV.

So, therefore, you could try here

There’s a few others for sale in various other shops too.

Thanks again Jason

Mail order is out as I don’t have enough time. I’ll try to find one in Bangkok.
