Free Grant/Scholarship Advice
|
Hi, All. I’m not a big contributor to Lightstalkers but I’m hoping to change that. My name is Bryan Shih and, while I’m not developing myself as a photographer, I run my own business advising folks (mostly from outside the US) on how to apply successfully to graduate/MBA programs and for grants and scholarships. It’s a strange niche, but I’ve had a lot of success over the years both personally (Fulbright Fellowship, full scholarship to UC Berkeley J-school, et. al.) and professionally. I’ve also gotten way more out of the discussion boards than I have contributed and I would love to give something back. If anyone is applying for a grant, scholarship, fellowship, etc. and would like me to review it, I am happy to do so at no charge. I’ll give you the best advice I can. I might have to put some limitations on how much I can do, but for now please e-mail me if you’re interested (bryan@elite-essays.com).

nice. Thanks for the offer.
|
it’s very kind of you to offer your services like that. thank you
|
You can definitely be of great help for some people in here.
Thank you for your kind offer.

You’re all very welcome and thanks to everyone who has contacted me already. I’ll be really happy if we can get you free money to do amazing stuff.
To speed things up a bit, when you contact me please let me know what you’ve applied for before (if at all) and the results. I also need to know what you are planning to apply for, deadlines, and application requirements, especially the statement of purpose instructions. The most valuable thing you could send me though is your former or under-development statements of purpose, successful or not, so I can evaluate them. (Maybe we can start a reference database at some point. I can start with my old Fulbright application as soon as I dig it out from moving.) I don’t have much photo editing experience, but if the statement of purpose is clearly written, focused, logical, consistent, and passionate (the qualities in an SOP that I’ve found to be appealing and inspiring to review committees), choosing the proper photos for submission should become easier.

Bryan really helped me with this advice recently. From what I thought was a good proposal turned out to be utterly rubbish and he managed to get it into shape.
Really worth anyone wanting help with grants/scholarship proposals to contact Bryan.
