by michael sawyer | 10 Dec 2006 18:12 | Paris, France |
ok looks like i missed your last post David

by michael sawyer | 10 Dec 2006 18:12 | Paris, France |
How does this work David for photographers living outside of the uk ?

by michael sawyer | 10 Dec 2006 18:12 | Paris, France |
The deadline is 31st December. Have a look at the website www.changingideas.org for further information. Most of our applications so far are from photographers outside UK for international projects. The key is an idea that can achieve a measurable change

by David Graham | 11 Dec 2006 09:12 | London, United Kingdom |
great concept but unless an individual is involved in a war, working as a missionary in drought-stricken areas, or involved with poor masses, it seems to be limited to such themes and areas… still a great idea and cause. hope this post is getting some results…

by fototaker | 13 Dec 2006 08:12 | Eugene, Oregon, United States |
The idea I got from their site was to bring attention to an under reported hidden subject and change responses, attitudes, habits to it, could be your local community, a pervading prejudice, a perpetuated stereotype. I don’t think every proposal has to be Bleasdale like, on the front lines in dangerous zones. Or maybe I am wrong!

by Angela Cumberbirch | 15 Dec 2006 22:12 | Manhattan, United States |
im going to take a shot and submit to go to IRAQ, always wanted to represent the monorites there that were always found in the middle of the cheos, such as the iraq christians (chaldeans) that still speak the one of the oldest languages on earth, aramiac. also the jewish iraqis that are at totall odds out there now. i live in the states and fly for the airlines, but got into photography heavy last year. wish me luck

by robert akrawi | 21 Dec 2006 11:12 | Michigan, United States |
Robert,
Please think carefully about your proposed visit to Iraq and whether you will actually be able to photograph the minorities you wish to within the chaotic and unpredictable civil war that is the reality there.
I realise that you will of course have thought long and hard but I believe that only embeded journalists or those with a serious death wish enter Iraq.
32 dead in 2006.
Good luck

by Benjamin Robin | 21 Dec 2006 11:12 | London, United Kingdom |
Applications need not be international or “Bleasdale” like. We have received applications dealing with domestic USA and UK issues. If Robert above shoots in Iraq then I ask him to think what is the difference that he is going to make with the photos and what is he trying to achieve or change and how does he think his photos will do so.

by David Graham | 21 Dec 2006 18:12 | London, United Kingdom |
Sounds fascinating and in line with my photographic approach of documenting ethnic communities coping with post-conflict environments. Unfortunately I can’t access your site at the moment, Benjamin, it seems to be down.

Has anyone received funding for assignments from these folks. What is your project? Where can it be seen? I would be interested in seeing who and what they have funded so far and the changes they are making. Sounds great. It has been about a year since the call to action was posted so I would think some of these projects have been funded and completed by now and I would like to view some of the photos.

Regards, JB

Nobody?

by John Brown | 27 Sep 2007 10:09 | Kampong Cham, Cambodia |
We have both funded and are in the process of working with ongoing projects. Funded projects have included a project with Human Rights Watch and cluster munitions – HRW Film

There are several other initiatives underway and further information will be made available on our website Changing Ideas at the appropriate time.

Meanwhile if you are aware of a project that can make a difference then please apply.
