Hey Ektor
you v got to find a room or a small hotel close to HEILL.but even then you r far from the point .cose as u know the place is already isolated.
You can search if you go ,there are a lot of touristic rooms around -check sign:ZIMMER-and start from rostock for a hotel as there are a lot of options.
My tip is start from hamburg where a lot of conscious demo will start also the media.

check for buses trains in rostock: http://www.verkehrsverbund-warnow.de/ accomodation: http://www.rostock.de/Internet/stadtverwaltung/tourismus/default.htm

In hamburg all is easier even more expencive.
i hope was a amall help.
all the best Nikos

Ektor is camping an option for you? we can try that way or share a room in Hamburg or Rostock , I think Nikos is right about it. Do you need a place for a stop over in Berlin? you can stay in my couch (for free, of course). let me know. bye

by Roberto Radimir | 24 May 2007 17:05 | berlin, Germany |
Wow, well thanks a lot Nikos. You seem to know well these parts of the world. You know we have a common friend we should meet for drinks some day after I come back. Take care

Does anyone need a ride from Cologne to Heiligendamm on the 4th? I can stop somewhere on the way.

by Daniel Etter | 24 May 2007 21:05 (ed. May 24 2007) | Cologne, Germany |
Hi Hector,
We found a super cheap apartment in Kuhlungsborn, a small village next to Heilingdamm, where the press center is (free connection)
Unfortunately we’re already too many in the flat (6 persons stinky photographers) but i guess you can find something very cheap too.
We re having this apartment for about 80 euros per persons for the whole week.
Here’s a link to find those apartment

good luck
ciao

I’ll be in Heiligendamm aswell. I got an accreditation pretty easily for the offical inside the fence circus.
Accreditation deadline is May 29th, 2007. See you guys out there.

See http://www.g-8.de and http://akkreditierung.bundesregierung.de/g8/en/Anmeldung.htm

Lets find a way for those LS’ers who will be there to meet. When is everybody going? Greetings to all.

by Ektor Dimisianos | 25 May 2007 21:05 | athens, Greece |
I’ll be there from June 1st to June 9th. Count me in for a LS meeting.

by Bastian Ehl | 25 May 2007 22:05 | Magdeburg, Germany |
I ll be there the 4th with other italian LS..

by Dario Pignatelli | 25 May 2007 22:05 | Rome, Italy |
I’m planning on going to Rostock from the 2nd (maybe 1st) until the 9th, I have no press card (therefore no accreditation) but I’m more interested in covering the anti-G8 movement and the counter-summit than the actual summit itself anyway. I’m still checking for accomodation in Rostock, found a couple of hotels although none of them available for the whole week. Would anyone be interested in sharing a room ?

Also, does anybody know whether the city of Bad Doberan is inside or outside the fence ?
[edit]: just found a map of the fenced area here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=866077&t=k&om=1
The city is outside the fence.

by Hughes Leglise Bataille | 28 May 2007 15:05 (ed. May 28 2007) | Paris, France |
Bad Doberan is roughly 3-4km outside the fence. The press shuttles for the summit start from there.

by Bastian Ehl | 28 May 2007 15:05 | Erfurt, Germany |
I have a PDF with addresses of hotels and hostel who still have some space free for you all. I hav no idea how to put the pdf here, so send me an email to h.voelkel@ostkreuz.de and I send it to you.

I will be ther from the 2nd to the 9th. I booked a small house a week ago, one week will cost 300 € and the house has room for 4. But unfortunately I’m booked out with colleagues already.

Regards Heinric

Bastian, I think the press shuttle starts at the press centre in Kuehlungsborn. At least that’s wht the BPA told me….

by Heinrich Voelkel | 28 May 2007 16:05 | Barcelona, Spain |
There’s also a press shuttle from bad Doberan to the Press Center in Kuehlungsborn.
See here: http://www.g-8.de/Webs/G8/EN/Media/Howtogetthere/how-to-get-there.html

Heinrich, is Michael Trippel from Ostkreuz attending aswell? Haven’t seen him for a while.

by Bastian Ehl | 28 May 2007 16:05 | Erfurt, Germany |
Ahhh, okay. Sorry. Anyway I will be outside all the time, but still got an accreditation for the snackbar at the press center…

I have no idea will Michael be there, I haven’t seen him in a while as well, but Ostkreuz will be there with 4 photographers. My little house has a “Terrasse” and we are planning on bringing a grill and some anti-G8-beer, ha ha. If you want to come over, we are in Kühlungsborn Ost, just give me a call….

regards
Heinrich

Hey Dario, did we rent the same place, wondering, same price, same size…?!

Where are you in Kuehlungsborn?

So there’s gonna be a Lightstalkers party at your house? Great!

by Daniel Etter | 28 May 2007 17:05 | Cologne, Germany |
Heinrich! hope Herr Rolf is not so much “italian” to rent the same flat to two groups of photographers.. or there will be riots also in Kuhlungsborn..
anyway, where becoming a big groups of Lightstalkers up there, we should definitly do a bbq or an international photographers beer contest ..
We ll bring our pasta, you german guys bring the sauerkraut

jokes apart, what s the feeling for those G8 days in germany? do you think demos will go fiurther than doing the blockades on the streets?
cheers
Dario

by Dario Pignatelli | 28 May 2007 17:05 | Rome, Italy |
Dario, don’t know about the Herr Rolf thing, but would be funny … when do you arrive? I will be there by the 2nd. First come, first serve…

I hope there will be not much happening, but to be honest, at the moment the feeling, mine and of some colleauges, is rather, there is going to be a big bang this time. Maybe not in Heiligendamm, maybe in Berlin or Hamburg. The situation between the police and the anti-G8-movement is already pretty heated up. And than there will be french and italian and english protesters as well. Nobody knows what they will be doing…I seriously hope it will stay quiet, but at the moment I have the feeling it will not. Better bring a helmet… ;-)

by Heinrich Voelkel | 28 May 2007 18:05 | Barcelona, Spain |
The mood around the protesters is pretty heated up. German police observed left-wing activists related to Anti-G8-actions pretty closely during the last months. I hope everything will stay quiet – but I highly doubt that. I already ordered some fresh filters for my mask.

by Bastian Ehl | 28 May 2007 19:05 | Erfurt, Germany |
Just to pop by and say that myself and two other photogs from London will be in Hamburg from the 1st. Let me know if there will be any bbq frivolity going on in that area!

by Greg Funnell | 28 May 2007 22:05 (ed. May 28 2007) | The Big Smoke, United Kingdom |
Doesn’t look like it’s gonna be “quiet” when you read this kind of report of the Hamburg demonstration yesterday : http://hatetheg8.blogspot.com/2007/05/prelude-to-g8-tearing-it-up-in-hamburg.html

by Hughes Leglise Bataille | 29 May 2007 16:05 | Paris, France |
Yeah, doesn’t look like it, but a colleague of mine who was there told me the police was really quick on “calming” the situation down. And don’t forget, the area around Heiligendamm is flat like a pancake, so will see every movement towards the fence quite a while ahead…

by Heinrich Voelkel | 29 May 2007 17:05 | Barcelona, Spain |
hi,
i will come around evening 5th. It will be my first big demonstration, so I would like to hear some advice for begginer. thanks

Hi everybody, we (me and Ektor) are looking for two photog willing to share a house or apartment around the area of the g8 from the 2nd till the 9th. Don’t miss the opportunity to eat Italian and Greek food every bloody day for the whole week! (Ektor do you cook?)

by Roberto Radimir | 31 May 2007 09:05 | berlin, Germany |
I would be REALLY interested but only for 3 nights (6, 7 and 8). Will be in Rostock before that, but they kick me out on the 6th !

by Hughes Leglise Bataille | 31 May 2007 09:05 | Paris, France |
I’ve just found a double-room appartment in Bad Doberan for 135 euros for 2 nights (6 and 7). I’m checking how much it would be sharing the room. If anyone is interested, let me know quickly.

by Hughes Leglise Bataille | 31 May 2007 10:05 | Paris, France |
Myself and other photog from London are looking for a place to stay near Rockstock the evening of the 1st till the 6th. We have a hotel pre-booked but if anything comes cheaper we’ll be willing to take it! Hoping to have a car if thats an incentive to anyone.

by Greg Funnell | 31 May 2007 10:05 | The Big Smoke, United Kingdom |
we have sthg in Kuehlungsborn 55sqm – 4 persons max – 48 euro night (336 week) + 2 euro x day each person taxes + 30 euro at the end for cleaning – 150 meters from the beach :D and 10 mins from the main road for buses to Rostock – if ok Greg you and your friend can share till the 6th and Hughes from 6th on…
Have to call back this evening the landlady – She has also a two bedroom + living room for 55 euros night

by Roberto Radimir | 31 May 2007 11:05 | berlin, Germany |
Roberto, that would be perfect for me from the 6th, you can count me in for 3 nights. I’m also holding up the other room in Bad Doberan for now, but I need to confirm something by the end of the day or early tomorrow. The lady also has more appartments for up to 6 people each in Wittenbeck (10 mn by bicycle to the press center), if anyone is interested, I can put you in touch.

by Hughes Leglise Bataille | 31 May 2007 11:05 | Paris, France |
Hello guys what you reckon for greek mousaka?

by Ektor Dimisianos | 31 May 2007 12:05 | Berlin, Germany |
Hi everyone,
I’m planning on being in rostock from the 1st to the 9th of June and I am still looking for a place to stay. If you guys have any room left I would really be intrested. I’ll be coming by boat from Trelleborg (Sweden) to Sassnitz which is not too far from Heilingdamm but ultimately I want to be in Rostock. I will leave from Sweden friday morning to head to Rostock so any help with accomodation before then would be great. I will gladly help share the rent.
Thanks

Roberto, thanks but I think our hotel actually works out a bit cheaper!...

by Greg Funnell | 31 May 2007 13:05 | The Big Smoke, United Kingdom |
wow! cheaper than 12 euros per day?... we should look more probably! :(

by Roberto Radimir | 31 May 2007 14:05 | berlin, Germany |
HELP!!! I am in a difficult situation. Roberto that I was supposed to share a flat with him, for personal reasons he cannot make it. I am left with a house on my own which if I do not find somebody to share I will have to pay on my own and I cannot afford to. Is anyone has any little space for me or interested to share???? Any help appreciated!!! Thanks Ektor

by Ektor Dimisianos | 01 Jun 2007 16:06 | Berlin, Germany |
ektor, I might be interested in sharing, but only from 2nd to 3rd and from 7th to 8th (in between those days i have to be in hamburg). would that help (a little)?

by Dagmar Schwelle | 01 Jun 2007 17:06 | Hamburg, Germany |
Dagmar it sounds great!!!! Thanks a lot! I am coming to Rostock tomorrow morning. I arrive at around 10 to 11 am. My mobile number is: 015772766874 call me when you get there so we can meet.

by Ektor Dimisianos | 01 Jun 2007 17:06 | Berlin, Germany |
Ektor,

Myself and 2 other people would be interested for the 6, 7 and 8. How big is that house ?!! Lars and I are already in Rostock, at the Elbotel, Philippe will be arriving on Sunday. You can join me at +33.6.6401.4597. Let’s try to meet tomorrow before or after the demonstration !

As an alternative to your place, I’ve also found some appartment in Bad Doberan for 2 or 4 people. I’m not sure about the price yet, but the location might be better than Kühlungsborn (closer to the action) ? I’m awaiting confirmation from the lady tomorrow.

by Hughes Leglise Bataille | 01 Jun 2007 21:06 | Rostock, Germany |
hi
we suddenly have one place free in our appartment
price is around 90 euros for the whole week, from tomorrow (4th june) till the 8th at night

we are 5 italian photographers. we also got two cars there that you could share with us.
