I work as a multi-media journalist in radio, web and print. I’m also a university prof. at a school of journalism in Toronto, Canada. I have reported from Bombay, New York, Port of Spain, and Toronto on music, culture and politics for pubs like Savoy, Vibe, and the Village Voice. I spent the last four years at the New York Times Style Magazine as an editor in the world of fashion and about an equal amount of time working on the first South Asian Women’s zine, (http://www.brownsugaronline.com) during that time. “A Giant Named Azalea” is my urban anti-racist fairy tale for kids and is considered a UN educator’s guide.
One of the most amazing places I’ve worked at is a community centre in South Africa to research and raise funds for a media arts centre in Soweto. To find out more go to: http://www.thesanssouci.org.
