About

John Javellana is a freelance photographer based in Manila who is currently working as a contract photographer for Reuters News Agency. He started his professional career as a wedding photographer back in 2007 and was invited to shoot for Reuters in 2008 while taking up Communication Arts in De La Salle University. After completing his degree, John continued on to be a regular contractor for Reuters to this day, covering every major news events within the time frame.

His photos have been widely published worldwide through the wires both online and print in publications such as TIME, Washington Post, The Guardian, Newsweek, The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Stern, MSNBC to name a few. He has also done work commissioned by various organizations and publications such as Le Monde, UNFPA, Reader’s Digest, WFP, Getty Images, Norwegian Business Daily, Roam Magazine, Greenpeace, Asian Literary Review, Sunday Telegraph, Esquire and Preview Magazines.

John specializes in covering spot/breaking news as well as doing features such as daily life singles; financial and corporate photos; sports images; and political news coverages. He has managed to excel working under pressure while delivering strong images along with faithful information. He has extensive knowledge on the city of Manila and surrounding provinces where he does majority of his work. John is currently working on his personal projects and intends to do more documentary work in the future.
