The Harvest - by Joe Harrison

These pictures represent a day in the life of a modern day oats harvester in rural Canterbury New Zealand. This process of harvesting oats has change little in the last 100 years and involves backbreaking work in the hot summer months, the workers who come from all over New Zealand often working 90 hours a week.
