About
Matthew Niederhauser is an independent photographer based in Beijing for the year leading up to the Summer Olympics in 2008. He is open to and ready for any commercial, editorial, or documentary work during his stay in China. He also fancies himself an adept writer with an eye for the absurd and will continue to work on his independent documentary project Visions of Modernity. His work has appeared in the New Yorker, Time Magazine, Guardian Observer, South China Morning Post, China Cosmo, Timeout Beijing, and various other Chinese magazines and newspapers. Matthew Niederhauser shoots both film and digital with a Canon 5D, Hasselblad 205FCC, panoramic Noblex 135U, and a Linhof Techinca V. He also travels with a Profoto 7b powerpack with two heads for environmental portraiture work. More importantly, Matthew Niederhauser is not always so finely attired as shown and finds writing about himself in the third-person rather disconcerting. Please feel free to contact him at mdn@mdnphoto.com with any questions, concerns, possible collaborations, or, most especially, work inquiries.
