Vancouver's Downtown East Side

Known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vancouver British Columbia also carries with it the reputation as having one of the worst drug problems in North America. As gentrification of the city continues and the pressures of hosting the world for the 2010 Olympics build, it is those on the bottom of the socioeconomic pyramid that suffer. Vancouver's often drug addicted and/or mentally ill homeless population continues to get squeezed into tighter and tighter quarters.
